Christian is Head of the Dispute
Resolution team in Guernsey.
Christian has broad experience of
dispute resolution matters but specialises in the financial
services and property/construction sectors.
As well as acting for various local
banks, trust companies and other financial services businesses on
routine contentious issues, he has acted on some of the largest and
most significant pieces of litigation to come before the Guernsey
Courts in recent years.
Legal 500 2012 comments that Christian
is 'exceptionally able' and previously that he 'gives
clear advice' and is 'an effective advocate'. In Chambers
2011 Christian Hay
is described as 'clear, forceful and a master of his brief in
court' and as having 'a friendly and easygoing disposition that
puts one at ease. But when the going gets tough his resolute
expertise is there for all to see'. He is praised for his
'proactive and common-sense approach, which really delivers'.
Christian joined the firm in 2003,
having practised as a solicitor in the City for several
years. He was called to the Guernsey bar as an Advocate in
2006 and and has been a Partner since 2007. Christian is a
member of the Guernsey International Lawyers Association, the
Society for Construction Law, ACTAPS, the IoD and the Society of
Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is also a CEDR accredited
mediator.
Christian regularly lectures
internally and externally to clients and relevant industry bodies
on litigation issues.
