Collas Crill announces new partner and other promotions.

Channel Islands law firm Collas Crill has announced the appointment of a new group partner.

Marcus Hinkley, a trust and fiduciary specialist, became a partner on 1 January 2012. Joint managing partner Jason Romer said: "We are delighted to announce that Marcus Hinkley has become a group partner of Collas Crill. Marcus, who has been with us since January 2010, has extensive international experience in his field, and has been instrumental in developing our fiduciary offering in the Guernsey and Singapore market.

New Zealand born, Marcus has extensive experience in advising institutional trustees and private individuals on a wide variety of private and commercial trust arrangements. Legal 500 2011 praises Marcus for his international experience. Before joining Collas Crill he worked at Maples and Calder and as in-house legal counsel for Citco Trustees in the Cayman Islands, and at Harneys in the British Virgin Islands.

Collas Crill has also announced a number of other promotions, including the first lawyer at the firm to attain the title of Counsel, and four new senior associates.

Jason Romer said: "A priority of our merger was to be recognised as a business where people are proud to work and are rewarded for their performance. These promotions are of people who, during their time at Collas Crill and our founding firms, have demonstrated their commitment, delivered best practice and achieved significant results."

In acknowledgment of his recognition as a leading figure in the fiduciary market in Jersey, Richard Pirie has been appointed Counsel. An expert in Jersey Foundations, Richard's latest accolades include being ranked as a leading individual in the Legal 500, maintaining a place on the Citywealth Leaders List and being nominated in the Expert category in the new Citywealth Offshore Awards list in 2011.

Jason Romer said: "Richard is a senior lawyer in the Jersey legal marketplace and the backbone of our fiduciary practice in Jersey and this title reflects that position."

The new senior associates are:

Clare Nicolle, who heads the Wills and Probate team in Jersey, for which she took responsibility in January this year.

Emma Parr, who is currently focused on employment matters and is based in Guernsey.

David O'Hanlon, who has experience of complex financial services disputes and claims against directors and assists Collas Crill's dispute resolution partners in Guernsey with large scale litigation matters.

David Jeffery, who is known as a personal injury and clinical negligence specialist but has recently become a contentious probate specialist in Guernsey.
