Collas Crill makes senior appointment to fiduciary team

Channel Islands law firm Collas Crill has appointed a new senior lawyer, Edward Stone, within its Fiduciary team.

Mr Stone has significant international offshore experience with two of the world's top multi-jurisdictional private client law firms - Withers and Conyers Dill & Pearman.

His practice focuses on working with international clients and their advisers on a wide variety of wealth planning matters including establishing trusts and fiduciary structures for use in business transactions, philanthropy, family succession planning and asset protection. Edward has particular experience in setting up private trust companies for UHNW clients, as well as the restructuring and resettlement of existing trusts and advising trust companies on their fiduciary obligations and trust interpretation.

Marcus Hinkley, partner in the Fiduciary team at Collas Crill, said: "We are delighted to announce that Edward has joined us, and as a senior appointment will considerably add to the depth of the firm's trusts expertise. His particular interests will be especially valuable for our London connections and Singapore offering."

Edward brings considerable experience in advising on offshore trust law and the establishment of bespoke trust solutions which tie in naturally with our plans to grow our fiduciary practice.

Mr Stone's appointment also sees the firm's Fiduciary team rebound following the death of Advocate Richard Pirie, in January.

"We are so sorry that Richard didn't get to work with Edward, although his appointment was confirmed before Richard died," said Mr Hinkley.

Previously head of Trusts and Private Client at Conyers Dill & Pearman in London, Edward has also worked for that firm in Bermuda and for Withers in London, Paris and Geneva having qualified as a solicitor with them in London in 1996. He was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2004.
