Employment News February 2012
News // February 2012
This month we focus specifically on the proposals for new maternity provisions in Guernsey and Jersey. We take a look at the implications for both islands and give some practical examples of how the proposed statutory maternity provisions would apply in the workplace. Whether you are an employer or 'soon to be parent' employee, you are bound to find this month's edition of interest.

If you need more information on the proposals, or any employment-related advice, please get in touch with Emma Parr and her team - we're only too happy to help.

And would you help us, please?

We would welcome your opinion on our monthly newsletter and forthcoming seminar series for managers and HR professionals. Your feedback is vital as we are constantly working to ensure that we provide you with the most interesting, up-to-date and informative content.

If you haven't already done so, we would be very grateful if you could take a few moments to answer some simple multiple choice questions here. This short survey is anonymous and we will publish the results in a future edition of the newsletter.

Many thanks for your time.

If any of your colleagues would like to receive this newsletter straight to their inbox please contact jane.darvell@collascrill.com, who will add them to our mailing list.

Wednesday 29 February

While we continue to wait for Jersey's draft law on parental leave, employers must still consider implementing policies on maternity and paternity leave before the draft appears - probably later this year - and it is enacted. Many large companies already have policies covering maternity and paternity, so it will be small and medium sized organisations that find it hardest to adapt to the introduction of these statutory rights. Colette Hunt gives some tips on what their policy might include.
