Employment Newsletter September 2011
News // September 2011

As we emerge from the holiday season and teams get down to business, in this edition of our Employment Newsletter we consider how to help employees, who are absent due to illness, back to work. Simon Hurry's suggestions on sickness absence policies for handling ill-health, or to enable an early and sustained return to work, follow recent research showing that work is good for you!

And when can employers say 'enough is enough'? Emma Parr looks at what went wrong for an employer that dismissed an acknowledged "difficult employee" on the grounds of "unacceptable absence and threatening behaviour" but was ordered to pay compensation of six months' gross salary.

We hope you find this newsletter both interesting and useful. If you would like to discuss any issues raised in it, or others that you are currently dealing with, please do contact us.
