Tatem is a Legal Assistant with more than nine years’ experience supporting lawyers and clients across Bermuda’s legal, insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Tatem has gained experience at several of Bermuda’s leading law firms and financial services organisations. Most recently, she supported attorneys on a range of corporate, regulatory and transactional matters, including BMA filings, due diligence processes, preparation of legal opinions and court searches. Prior to this, she managed a portfolio of approximately 60 companies and worked in a legal analysis role, supporting the organisation’s legal, regulatory and compliance functions.
Tatem holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada. She has further enhanced her professional expertise through certifications in corporate procedures, insurance essentials and ethics for insurance professionals through The Institutes.
She is Bermudian and British and has built her career within Bermuda’s offshore legal and financial services sector. Having worked in both law firm and in-house environments, she is experienced in court processes, regulatory filings, board and corporate administration, and client-facing communication.
Good corporate governance and a sound understanding of directors duties is critical. Regardless of size, establishing a best practice approach should be fundamental to all boards.
The board of directors are responsible for ensuring the company achieves its objectives and the corporate governance framework they adhere to should underpin their accountability to the company and its members.
