Collas Crill expands offshore presence into Bermuda

Collas Crill is delighted to announce its expansion into leading offshore jurisdiction Bermuda, which has long offered a stable legal environment and judiciary, a strong infrastructure and ideal geographic position.

With existing offices in leading offshore jurisdictions Cayman Islands, BVI, Guernsey and Jersey, this further extends the firm's market-leading offshore dispute resolution practice.

Collas Crill has appointed Lilla Zuill to lead its Bermuda office as Local Managing Partner.

Lilla ran her own law firm, Zuill & Co, and previously worked for a number of years at another offshore law firm where she gained significant experience in the Hong Kong market before becoming their Bermuda Managing Partner.

Lilla specialises in commercial litigation, contentious trusts, insolvency and restructuring and has represented clients in complex, often high-profile cases, involving cross-border disputes, arbitration, foreign judgments, contentious trust disputes, and corporate insolvencies and restructurings.

At Collas Crill, Lilla will be part of the global litigation and dispute resolution team, working closely with Partner Rocco Cecere, who is responsible for the litigation team in the Cayman Islands.

Rocco said: 'Our litigation and merger appraisal team are already involved with a considerable amount of work in respect of merger appraisal litigation in Bermuda and have been involved in a number of precedent-setting cases over the last few years.

'We have market-leading experience in this space and we believe that having a Collas Crill presence in Bermuda, with Lilla at the helm, will provide our clients a more seamless service across all our jurisdictions.'

Lilla said: 'This development will provide access to greater resources in and out of Bermuda, most notably to Collas Crill’s network of market-leading lawyers including in the areas of contentious trust disputes, merger appraisal actions, insolvency and restructuring, and commercial disputes, both in Bermuda as we grow and expand, and across the other jurisdictions in which the Group operates.

'I am delighted to be joining Collas Crill and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the partnership. It is an exciting development for me, Collas Crill and my clients.'

Group Managing Partner, Jason Romer, added: 'This is a really exciting step for Collas Crill and another important milestone as we continue to grow our global firm. As a market-leading offshore litigation practice, we will continue to focus on delivering exceptional service to our existing clients in the first instance and expand from there. Lilla is a very well-regarded, well-connected Bermudian litigator and we are all looking forward to working with her to deliver what our clients have been asking for.'
