Collas Crill Island Walk announces 2016 charities

St John Ambulance, Durrell and Jersey Cheshire Home are this year's three main charities that will benefit from money raised by the Collas Crill Island Walk.

These charities will benefit from a significant donation of between £15,000 and £20,000, while the remaining nine each benefit from a share of the pot that can range from between £3,500 and £5,000.

The amount of donations received by the charities is entirely dependent upon how much money is raised by walkers in both registration fees and sponsorship money. Every penny goes directly to the charities.

Collas Crill Senior Partner, Nuno Santos-Costa, said: "The local charities we support each year are at the heart of the Collas Crill Island Walk. Over the last 26 years, participants of the walk have raised more than £2,000,000 for well deserving local causes, and in doing so the walk has earned its place as an integral part of Jersey life.

"Collas Crill is proud to support the walk as title sponsor for this, our third year, and to be part of such an important event in the island's fundraising calendar. We would like to encourage every walker to try and raise as much sponsorship as possible - because your small steps can make a big difference to these charities and their ability to make an impact in our community."

The other charities that will benefit from the walk this year include: Teenage Cancer Trust Jersey, Jersey Mencap, Silkworth, Les Amis, Ridout House Residential Home, Age Concern Jersey and Glanville Residential Nursing Home.

Last year saw over £125,000 raised for Jersey charities and brought the total amount raised since the beginning of the walk to over £2,000,000.
