Collas Crill strengthens Guernsey disputes and regulatory offering with Partner appointment

Collas Crill has appointed Richard Field as a Partner in its Guernsey Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, further strengthening the firm's expertise across complex litigation, financial services regulation, technology and data protection.

Richard brings more than 20 years' experience advising businesses, financial institutions, trustees and regulators on complex contentious and regulatory matters. He has particular experience in corporate and trust litigation, financial services disputes and regulatory issues arising from technology, data and financial crime.

He has acted in a number of significant and precedent-setting matters in Guernsey, including complex cross-border disputes involving funds, banking and investment relationships, trusts and estates.

His recent experience includes several contentious trust and estates trials, as well as novel claims involving the reconstitution of trusts. He also has extensive experience advising on Guernsey's regulatory and financial crime framework.

Alongside his contentious practice, Richard has developed a leading practice advising clients on data protection, technology and cyber issues, including the regulatory and legal challenges arising from the increasing use of technology and AI.

He has also been closely involved in the development of Guernsey's data protection framework.

Gareth Bell, Guernsey Managing Partner at Collas Crill, said: 'Richard is an excellent addition to the team. His combination of disputes experience and strong regulatory expertise is particularly valuable at a time when the issues facing our clients are becoming increasingly interconnected.

'Technology, regulation and litigation increasingly overlap, and Richard brings the experience and perspective needed to help clients navigate those challenges. His track record in complex and high-profile matters speaks for itself, and we are delighted to welcome him to Collas Crill.'

Richard said: 'I am very pleased to be joining Collas Crill and look forward to working with the team and its clients. The firm's strength across dispute resolution, private client and regulatory work provides an excellent platform for my practice, particularly where contentious and regulatory issues intersect.

'I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the Guernsey practice and to help clients navigate an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment.'

Richard is Chair of Guernsey Association of Compliance Officers and sits on the States of Guernsey's Digital & Technology Advisory Panel and the Office of the Data Protection Authority's Guidance and Legal Advisory Panels.
