Latest on Island Development Plan discussed at breakfast seminar

It was a great turnout for the Real Estate: Planning breakfast seminar in Guernsey on 14 August.

More than 30 guests from the property sector – including estate agents, developers and architects - heard from Senior Planning Consultant Chris Crew  with an update on the States of Guernsey's ongoing review of the Island Development Plan.

Chris gave a recap on progress of the review to date, discussed implications of recently announced delays to the further public consultation period.

He also provided insights into how the appointed Planning Inspector may consider proposed amendments and any challenges to those.

The round table discussion which followed drew on attendees' deep commercial experience and illustrated a shared desire to assist in ensuring the best possible outcome for the review process.

'Although particular concerns were raised regarding the viability and deliverability of major allocated housing sites across the Island, it was clear that a range of realistic and practical alternative solutions exist,' said Chris.
