Secondment strengthens relationship

Trainee Solicitor Jessica Burgess is completing a three-month secondment with Withers LLP in London in the private client team. She will be working under Private Client and Tax Partner Dora Clarke, focusing on all aspects of probate, succession and tax planning.

Jessica began her training contract with Collas Crill is September 2021 and is currently undertaking her final seat of four in the Dispute Resolution team. Jessica has completed the first three seats of her training contract in the firm's UK Real Estate, Corporate, Finance and Funds and International Private Client and Trusts teams.

Here Partner and Training Principal Ben Havard shares his views on the value secondments bring to both the individual and Collas Crill as a firm.

'Withers is a leading international law firm dedicated to the business, personal and philanthropic interests of successful people, their families, their businesses and their advisers. Withers is a global law firm dedicated to the personal and private capital needs of high-net-worth individuals and families and run a highly successful private client offering.

Collas Crill is also considered a leader in our field in terms of our private client offering. We are a top ten offshore law firm with offices in BVI, Cayman, Guernsey, and Jersey. Our clients include some of the world’s leading financial institutions, international businesses, trusts and funds, as well as UHNW individuals and families across the globe.

Collaboration is at the heart of the way we work. From trainee to partner we inspire our lawyers to be proactive and build relationships. We regularly organise secondments for our lawyers and trainees, giving them the opportunity to work in different jurisdictions, and we encourage our ambitious employees to apply for positions in different offices around the world.

We believe this secondment between Collas Crill and Withers is a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship further, and will assist junior lawyers in our respective teams to establish and develop a network of contacts early on in their careers.'
