Suspicious minds – reporting suspicion Training

Executive Director of Collas Crill Compliance, Sandra Lawrence, and Of Counsel Nin Ritchie are speaking at the GTA University Centre's Compliance CPD Series. There are ten sessions in the series that run during lunchtimes, 12.30-1.30pm.

Course overview

This session will discuss some of the critical aspects of reporting knowledge or suspicion of financial crime or terrorist financing, explain why it is so important that a disclosure is able to withstand scrutiny and equip Guernsey MLROs with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with the potential consequences in the event of 'no consent'.


Course content

Sandra and Nin's session will cover the following topics:

  • Critical matters to consider prior to submitting a SAR to the FIU;
  • Crucial information to include in a SAR and any internal record-keeping;
  • The impact of receiving 'no consent and what may happen next.


Course benefits

This course is aimed at MLROs and is intended to equip them with the necessary skills to deal with minefield of receiving, drafting, submitting and updating SARs, protecting against personal liability and explaining what may happen in the event of 'no consent'.
