Collas Crill's Guernsey Risk Conference

Practical issues for directors, senior managers and senior compliance professionals working in Guernsey's regulated financial services industry will be the theme of Collas Crill's next risk half-day conference on the 3 October.

Hosted by Collas Crill's knowledgeable, commercial and friendly Risk and Regulatory team, we will also be joined by two guest speakers both actively involved in regulatory developments: James Purchas of 4 Pump Court and Graeme McPherson QC of 4 New Square.

Both James and Graeme are highly regarded barristers in their field involved in ongoing offshore cases.

    • James will discuss the trials and tribulations of senior management focusing on potential liabilities. This will include a look at some of the sources and obligations that arise as well as mitigating exposure by D&O insurance with an overview of what is (and is not) covered all with reference to cases.

  • 10:00 - 11:15 Collas Crill Risk & Regulatory team will discuss key developments and issues in Guernsey including:
    • Bribery & Corruption – Lessons to be learnt from recent case law.
    • Corporate Governance & Oversight – A look at recent developments and trends in the Corporate Governance sphere and regulatory expectations.
    • Information Management & the Regulators – What the GDPR means for regulated entities and how to manage varying obligations around data retention.
    • Regulatory Update – A look at the evolving landscape in light of the consultations released by the Regulator in 2017.

  • 11:30 - 12:10 Graeme McPherson QC, Barrister, 4 New Square
    • Graeme will discuss the issues surrounding regulatory investigations and the enforcement process, including preparation for and dealing with tribunal hearings.
