Collas Crill BVI appoints new Managing Partner

Gerard St. C. Farara QC, the Local Managing Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution in Collas Crill's BVI office, will be retiring as an equity Partner of the firm at the end of the year. Ian Montgomery will officially be taking over as Local Managing Partner of the BVI office on 1 January 2020.

Gerard is the most senior lawyer in his territory, having practised law in the BVI for over 42 years, and is also the leading Queen's Counsel at the BVI bar.

He has been with Collas Crill since 2017, following its merger with Farara Kerins, a practice that he first set up in 1984.

Gerard will continue to serve the firm as a Consultant and Senior Advisor going forwards, from January 2020.

Ian returned to the BVI in 2018, relocating from the firm's Jersey office to lead the BVI Corporate, Finance and Funds department. He was admitted as a solicitor in the BVI in 2014 and is recognised as a leading lawyer in the jurisdiction.

Jason Romer, Group Managing Partner said: 'Gerry has been an exceptional colleague since our merger with Farara Kerins in 2017. It has been a true honour to work with him and I'm delighted that we won't be losing him altogether as he continues in an advisory role in 2020.

'I would like to thank him for all of his hard work and wish him the very best in his next venture.

'It is also a great pleasure to announce Ian's promotion to Local Managing Partner in the BVI. Ian is an extremely knowledgeable lawyer and fantastic leader; I have no doubt he will do an outstanding job in heading up the BVI office.'
