Collas Crill Jersey raises over £4,000 for local charity Silkworth

Collas Crill’s Jersey office has donated over £4,000 to local charity Silkworth following an 18-month charity partnership.

Silkworth, which provides safe and caring residential rehabilitation treatment for people struggling with chemical dependency, as well as providing support for families who are also affected, was chosen as the firm’s charity partner in 2017.

Collas Crill’s Make A Difference (MAD) committee, which manages the firm’s charity and CSR activities, spearheaded a range of regular activities to contribute to the fundraising total. Every Friday, staff held a dress down day with donations benefiting the charity, alongside regular raffles to raise additional funds.

During the partnership Collas Crill staff, along with their friends and families, helped to renovate Silkworth’s secondary rehabilitation home at West Park Avenue. This involved redecorating and furnishing four bedrooms to provide accommodation for their clients as they adjust back into society and independent living.

Collas Crill employees also marshalled and tackled the Silkworth Extreme Challenge, an around the island competition where teams took it in turns to swim, run, kayak and cycle the various different stages.

Dionne Gilbert, MAD Committee Chairman said: “It's been a thoroughly rewarding partnership with Silkworth in many ways. Fund raising has been fun for all the firm and we have directly seen the impact of our contribution. We chose Silkworth because they are a local charity, which we knew would significantly benefit from our fundraising efforts. It's great to hear that the West Park Avenue facilities are being put to use and providing much-needed accommodation and assistance to those who need it.”

Jason Wyse, Chief Executive Officer of Silkworth commented: "As we come to the end of our time as your charity of choice, I would like to express, on behalf of the staff and I, our thanks and appreciation for choosing us and for the support that we have received from the partners and staff at Collas Crill.

A huge thank you must be passed to all who transformed our client bedrooms at West Park Avenue. To say I am delighted would be an understatement. All rooms are currently fully occupied with our clients being blown away at the standard of accommodation they have been able to utilise whilst undergoing secondary treatment."

The total raised for Silkworth was £4200 and the cheque was presented to Jason at the Collas Crill office on 10th April 2019, in addition to other funds donated by Collas Crill of approximately £5,000.

Collas Crill has chosen The Sanctuary Trust as it's new 2019-2020 charity partner.
