Overview
David Millar is a Trainee Solicitor currently undertaking his first seat of four in the Corporate Finance and Funds team in Guernsey.
Experience
Throughout his educational career, David has gained invaluable experience working alongside both solicitors and barristers in the UK.
In particular, his experience lends itself to the corporate sector, having worked alongside Partners in advising international companies on both mergers and acquisitions, and on their legal options for facilitating long-term commercial growth. He also has family law experience, having assisted in the advising of financial matters following divorce proceedings, as well as complex private wealth protection.
Recognising the potential unprecedented impact that it will have on the legal sector, David has untaken extensive research into the influence of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. He has published a paper on the regulation of emerging technology which championed innovation and warned against the stifling effects of over-regulation.
Background
David studied at Newcastle University, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws with Second Class First Division Honours and a Master of Laws in Law with Distinction.
David is currently undertaking the Legal Practice Course with the University of Law.
Alongside his educational achievements, David has also enjoyed sporting success. He was the captain of his University ice hockey team where, alongside his teammates, he led them to championship victory.
