Collas Crill recognised in Chambers High Net Worth guide for 'significant work' in international private wealth

Collas Crill's award-winning Private Client teams in the Channel Islands have featured in this year's Chambers High Net Worth guide, the guide for go-to individuals and firms in the private wealth sector.

The Jersey and Guernsey teams, both ranked band 3, were recognized for their 'significant work' in private wealth with four individuals been singled out for their expertise in the area.

Jersey partner and Head of Dispute Resolution Damian James, ranked band 3 in the guide, was noted to be 'a good trust litigator with a sensible approach when handling complex work', 'a strong lawyer and a good choice for complex and high-value work'.

Partner Kellyann Ozouf, who heads up the International Private Client and Trust team in Jersey, also ranked band 3. She is described by one source as having 'excellent on-island experience' and another notes that 'she is a delight to work with, has a fresh approach and is extremely personable'.

Group Partner Angela Calnan, who heads up the team in Guernsey, ranked band 2 in the guide. She is noted as having 'extensive experience in offshore trust matters', and being 'a good adviser' … 'strong on Middle East matters and a solid practitioner'.

David Cooney, who joined the Guernsey team in Collas Crill earlier this year, is described as 'an important person for offshore matters' who 'really understands all the cross-border and offshore issues expertly'. He was also recognised for 'expertise based abroad' in Cayman matters, with one source saying: 'I would pick him out as an expert in Cayman matters'. David ranked band 3 in the guide.

The Chambers High Net Worth guide provides an in-depth analysis of the market and ranks the top lawyers and law firms for international private wealth. The guide is used by family offices and professional advisers to high net worth and ultra high net worth clients around the world.

The rankings are based on independent research including interviews with lawyers, family offices, tax advisers, accountants, investment managers and bankers for a comprehensive view of the private wealth sector.

Angela Calnan said: 'We are committed to offering first-class support and advice for our clients and the recognition in the Chambers guide is a reflection of this.

'We are delighted with the rankings. It's the comments from clients and peers that are particularly rewarding though, as they endorse the high level of service we provide and give further evidence of our position both as leading private client practice and top 10 offshore law firm.'
