Overview

Charles is a Trainee Solicitor undertaking his final seat in the firm's Private Client and Trusts team and is based in Guernsey. He has experience across a broad range of practices, with a particular focus on contentious trust and private client disputes.

Experience

As a trainee, Charles has completed seats in the Private Client and Trusts, Insolvency and Corporate Disputes, Real Estate, and Financial Services and Regulatory teams. Notable contributions include:

  • assisting Partners in the Guernsey and Jersey offices with proceedings concerning the restructuring of trusts forming part of a global structure worth approximately $1bn;
  • assisting with obtaining a maritime lien over a super yacht worth an estimated $600m, owned by a sanctioned individual, in pursuit of the recovery of unpaid crew wages;
  • advising a leading Channel Islands developer regarding the refinancing of its development of landmark commercial premises at Admiral Park in Guernsey; and
  • migrating thirty SPVs from Guernsey to the Cayman Islands on an expedited timeline to meet strict regulatory requirements for a local CSP.


During his undergraduate degree, Charles enjoyed a placement as a Paralegal with the firm's Real Estate team where he assisted with a range of residential and commercial property matters.

Background

Previously a Bursary Student with Collas Crill, Charles graduated with First Class Honours in Law LLB (Hons) from the University of Surrey in 2022. He passed the SQE1 on his first attempt in July 2023 and is expected to qualify as a Solicitor of England and Wales in May 2024.


A member of the Guernsey Rifle Club, Charles spends most of his Saturday afternoons during the summer months on a rifle range and has authored two books about the island's history in the sport.
