Itumeleng has significant experience advising leading global investment firms, private equity funds, multinationals, high-net individuals, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and generally, clients across a wide range of sectors and industries.
Geographically, Itumeleng has experience working with clients from across Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, Australasia, the Middle East, the Americas, Singapore, the People's Republic of China and the Channel Islands.
Experience
She began her law career as a corporate attorney in South Africa, with a focus on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, mining transactions, commercial transactions and global restructurings.
In 2019, she moved to a firm where her practice focus was on downstream private equity transactions, private equity capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, W&I insurance, takeover bids, management buy-outs and build-up of platforms, sale processes of distressed assets, and general corporate advice on direct and indirect investments.
Background
Itumeleng achieved her LLB and LLM (cum laude) degrees from the University of Johannesburg. She also completed several research fellowship programmes at international institutions including Pembroke College, Cambridge University (United Kingdom), and the Hague Academy of International Law (Netherlands).
She has been awarded several honorary awards which include being part of the 15% elite top-performing students at the University of Johannesburg by Golden Key International Honour Society, an African Scholar of the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (United States of America). She has been highly commended by African Legal Awards (United Kingdom) as "Most Promising Newcomer". In addition, she was listed as one of the Top 200 Outstanding Young South Africans in 2018 by Mail and Guardian, and was included on Avance Media's list of the Top 100 Most Influential Young South Africans, also in 2018.
Itumeleng enjoys reading, writing and public-speaking on a wide range of business and investment topics. To date, she has published several articles across Sub-Saharan Africa, the United Kingdom and the Middle East, and publicly appeared on business news channels across Africa on business and investment topics.
Itumeleng has lived in 5 different countries, and generally travelled to over 45 countries. She is fluent in English, Tshivenda, Setswana and isiZulu, and currently learning Swahili and French.
